[00:00:00] Camille: Welcome to Hold the Door. I’m happy you’re here. I’m your podcast host, Camille Wilson. Entertainment careers usually aren’t linear. There’s often not a clear path into the industry itself, or from one role to the next. And that can feel especially daunting as a person from an underrepresented community.

[00:00:22] In an environment where there is a lot of gatekeeping, Hold the Door will be a space to learn how other folks are navigating this industry, likely without the luxury of seeing someone who looks like them do it first, and ideally lay the foundation you may need to make that big pivot or have a tough conversation in your own career. In other words, the guests will be folks who have gotten their “foot in the door” and are attempting to hold it open for the ones coming behind, hence the title.

[00:00:50] I’ve worked in the entertainment industry in the diversity, equity, and inclusion space for about five years now. With this podcast, I hope to bridge some of the gaps I’ve observed. In season one, each week, I’ll interview people I know and admire about a time they approached a turning point in their entertainment careers and took a risk that set them on a new path. We’ll talk about deciding to go to grad school, moving from a corporate job to freelance, and relocating for work, among other topics. I hope you join us.
